YOU-KNOW-WHO ON WEDNESDAY NIGHT (Joel Auerbach/Getty Images) |
Patrick said, "Am I allowed to tell people about what
happened with Duke basketball?" Patrick said. "Now, we're looking
into this. The Duke charter landed in Durham at 12:42 in the morning. Practiced
started at 1:30 a.m., finished up at 4:45 a.m. We're being told by a couple of
people who work there at Duke that Coach K was not pleased after being blown
out by 27."
While Coack K and staff may have been tempted to start the team running the minute the plane hit the ground in Durham, NCAA rules prohibit such. And we all know that Duke NEVER breaks the rules. Well, at least, they damn sure don't ever get caught...(See Florida State, Georgia Tech, North Carolina, Maryland, Virginia Tech, etc.)
Of course, this immediately became a huge sensation on the
Internet where everything you read, see or hear is true. Don’t believe us, just
ask that kid from Notre Dame.
Guess what? Turns out Dan Patrick was joking! Really? Dan Patrick joking? Shocking!
Wasn’t he always Keith Olbermann’s straight man? Well…no.
Yes, after a fair amount of sound and fury (and a denial
from K-tower) a producer on
The Dan Patrick Show clarified to Bomani Jones that Patrick's
statement wasn't a report of fact or even rumor. They were “goofing.” Of course, the clarification came via
Twitter.
Just one more reason to start
drinking early.
The riot quickly planned for Franklin Street was just as quickly
cancelled.
Damn.
