MIAMI 54, MARYLAND 47 - How ugly was it? Half way through the first half, the score was 12-7 Canes. It was 19-14 at halftime, but both teams threw rocks in the second half as well with Miami shooting 34.9S% (22-63) for the game and the Terps a whopping 31.6% (18 of 57).
Oh, and both teams struggled at the free throw line as well. Maryland mad 8 of 18 (44.4%) while Miami a mere 5 of 13 (38.5%).
Kenny Kadji scored 14 points for Miami and Trey McKinney Jones finished with 12 points to help the Hurricanes (12-3, 3-0) open ACC play with three consecutive wins for the first time.
McKinney Jones' two free throws with 38.4 seconds remaining increased Miami's lead to 50-44. Durand Scott secured the win with a fast-break layup that made it 52-44 with 24 seconds left.
Alex Len scored eight straight points for the Terrapins late in the second half. His dunk with 39 seconds left got Maryland within 48-44.
Dez Wells scored 18 points for Maryland (13-3, 1-2). Len finished with 16 points.
