Saturday ACC Basketball

FLORIDA STATE 73, St. Joseph’s (Hawks, 8,800 students, Philadelphia, PA) 66 - Forward Terrance Shannon scored 15 points - 11 in the final 13:45 - and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead Florida State to a victory over Saint Joseph's on Saturday night in the championship game of the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic at Barclays Center.

Okaro White added 16 points for the Seminoles (3-1) while tournament MVP Michael Snaer had 14. Shannon had six points as Florida State closed the game on a 10-6 run after the Hawks (2-1) had closed within 63-60 with 4:47 to play.

Ronald Roberts had his second double-double in as many days, finishing with 15 points and 11 rebounds.  Recap. 

VIRGINIA 83, Seattle (Redhawks, 7,775 students, Seattle, WA) 43 - In the most one-sided victory of Tony Bennett's four seasons as the their coach, the Wahoos destroyed Seattle University 83-43 to even their record at 2-2.

"It was just nice to see some shots going in," said Bennett, whose team came in shooting 38.5 percent from the floor and had yet to break the 60-point mark. Recap.

Iona (Gaels, ?? students, New Rochelle, NY) 94, WAKE FOREST 68 -  Iona made its first nine shots and raced out to a 22-3 lead seven minutes into the game, as the Gaels knocked off Wake Forest at the Paradise Jam on Saturday evening at the UVI Sports and Fitness Center on the island of St. Thomas.

Wake Forest (1-2) struggled out of the gate and could not withstand the hot shooting of Iona (2-1), as the Gaels steadily built their lead to as much as 37 (48-11) in the first half. The Deacons trailed 54-24 at the half. Recap.
