Duke's Quinn Cook and Virginia Tech's Erick Green have been named Co-ACC Players of the Week, while Georgia Tech's Marcus Georges-Hunt has been selected the conference's Rookie of the Week following outstanding performances this past week.
Cook was named the MVP of the Battle 4 Atlantis after leading fifth-ranked Duke to wins over Minnesota, VCU and No. 2 Louisville. The Washington, D.C., sophomore opened the tournament establishing career-highs in both points (17) and steals (5) in an 89-71 win over the Golden Gophers. In the three games, Cook averaged 13.7 points, 6.3 assists, 3.3 rebounds and 2.0 steals per game while shooting 46.4 percent from the field and 91.7 percent from the foul line.
Green led the undefeated Hokies to a pair of victories this past week, recording career-highs in scoring in both games. In a 96-87 win at UNCG Monday, the Winchester, Va., senior scored a career-high 26 points and had six assists. Against Appalachian State Friday, Green posted a new career-high with 27 points and handed out four assists in an 87-76 victory. He has scored at least 20 points in all five games this season and leads the ACC in scoring (24.4).
Georges-Hunt averaged 11.0 points and 4.7 rebounds in Georgia Tech's three games of the DirecTV Classic in Anaheim, Calif., leading the Yellow Jackets to two wins and a third-place finish in the tournament. The College Park, Ga., native just missed recording his first collegiate double-double Thursday, scoring 11 points and pulling down nine rebounds in a 54-36 victory over Rice.
