While announcing the UCI ban of Lance Armstrong and the removal of his Course Des Tricheurs titles, UCI president Pat McQuaid said this:

“Lance Armstrong has no place in cycling, and he deserves to be forgotten in cycling. This is a landmark day for cycling.”

Really?

No sport is more historically plagued with cheaters than cycling and now the governing body, who certainly has played a role in this mess, is high upon the mountain shouting down ‘There is no place for this cheater and drug user in our sport teeming with cheaters and drug users.”

Give us a break.
