Eichorst has resigned as Miami's athletic director and is expected to
replace Tom Osborne as Nebraska's athletic director sources told ESPN.
Last month, Osborne announced he would retire from Nebraska
on Jan. 1.
Eichorst was hired at Miami on April 12, 2011. He spent the
previous six seasons at Wisconsin, including the last three as deputy athletic
director under Wisconsin athletic director Barry Alvarez.
Prior to Wisconsin, Eichorst was a senior associate athletic
director at South Carolina.
Eichorst, 45, graduated from Wisconsin-Whitewater in 1990
and earned a law degree from Marquette in 1995.
Speculation on the street is that the Suits In Indianapolis
will announce additional sanctions against the Canes in November or December,
and if they don’t, Miami will self-impose some additional penalties (no bowl
game, for example).
