Now in his defense, we surmise he was talking about the
process as opposed to the “cause,” but it will be interesting to see what he
and others say now that the Freeh Report makes it clear that Paterno and other PSU
leaders made the university and its football program a priority to avoid bad
publicity even when they knew about Jerry Sandusky’s abuses.

Meanwhile, Bobby Bowden has an opinion as well. You will
recall he was stripped of some victories for NCAA violations that look pretty
tame compared to Penn State’s lack of institutional control and a policy that
basically said “you can rape young boys, just don’t do it on campus.”
