Quote Of The Day

(Steve Manuel)
Not too long ago Coach K said: “You had somebody who’d given six decades of service to the university and done such an incredible job. Somehow, you have to let – something has to play out and respect the fact that you’ve gone through all these experiences for six decades. And it doesn’t just go out the window, right at the end.  I thought it was a real mistake by Penn State’s leadership.”

Now in his defense, we surmise he was talking about the process as opposed to the “cause,” but it will be interesting to see what he and others say now that the Freeh Report makes it clear that Paterno and other PSU leaders made the university and its football program a priority to avoid bad publicity even when they knew about Jerry Sandusky’s abuses.

Meanwhile, Bobby Bowden has an opinion as well. You will recall he was stripped of some victories for NCAA violations that look pretty tame compared to Penn State’s lack of institutional control and a policy that basically said “you can rape young boys, just don’t do it on campus.”
