"When you go to the Sweet 16, it's supposed to be a lot more fun than this."
-- UNC head coach Roy Williams after point guard Kendall Marshall was injured in the Tar Heels victory over Creighton. According to a UNC spokesman, Marshall has a fracture of the scaphoid bone in his right wrist. The scaphoid bone is located on the thumb side of the wrist near the area where the wrist bends. Marshall’s wrist was placed in cast.
Williams had the media clear out of the locker room so he could address the team to tell them about Marshall’s injury.
Prior to that, Williams was one of many different people to come and go from the trainer's room. Someone brought a bag of ice, Marshall's family were escorted in to see the point guard and several doctors were brought in and out.
Last night, a statement released by the UNC suggested there would be no additional news on Marshall’s status until Monday.
