Miami Headed To Second Straight N.I.T.

Well, it’s not the Big Dance, but it’s a dance…

The Miami Hurricanes (19-12) were shut out of the NCAA Tournament field Sunday night, but they did land a No. 2 seed in the NIT.

The Canes will play No. 7 Valparaiso (22-11) at home Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. If they win that game, they'd play the winner of No. 3 LaSalle (21-12) and No. 6 Minnesota (19-14) in the second round, also at the BankUnited Center. Tennessee (18-14) is the top seed in Miami's region.

The other No. 1 seeds are Washington, Seton Hall and Arizona.

Head coach Tom Larranaga said late Sunday night that suspended leading scorer Durant Scott was still ineligible and there were no new developments on his appeal.

It is the second consecutive NIT appearance and third in the past four years for Miami.  They reached the NIT quarterfinals last season before losing at Alabama.
