All things considered, it would seem appropriate that Coach K weigh in on the matter.  Interestingly, one of his biggest fans*, T.A.H. Pop Culture Editor Young A.T. (among others in the T.A.H. Worldwide Media sphere of influence) offered this theory immediately after hearing about the Jerry Sandusky scandal at Penn State...

“One thing you have to understand is that Coach Paterno is 84-years-old.  I’m not saying that for an excuse or whatever. The cultures that he’s been involved in both football wise and socially have been [through] immense changes. And how social issues are handled in those generations are quite different. Quite different. And I think that has something to do with the situation.”
