John Henson added 16 points, 10 rebounds and a career-best
six assists for the Tar Heels (4-0). North
Carolina (4-0) shot 62 percent (a lot of dunks will do that) and cracked the
100-point mark for the second time in three days, while the Heels’ 32 assists
on 41 baskets were the most in nine seasons under Ol’ Roy’s direction.
#6 DUKE 87, #15 Michigan (Wolverines, 26,208 students, Ann
Arbor, MI) 75 – Putting on an offensive show, the Blue Devils shot their way into the Duke
Hawaiian (Maui) Invitational championship game for the fifth time.
Austin Rivers had 20 points, Seth Curry and Ryan Kelly had
17 each, and Andre Dawkins added 14 to help Duke (6-0) extend its undefeated
winning streak in Maui to 14 games.
Coastal Carolina (Chanticleers, 8,360 students, Conway, SC) 60,
CLEMSON 59 – Coastal Carolina's Chris Gradnigo scored on a putback off his own
miss at the buzzer to lift the Chanticleers to a victory over Clemson on
Tuesday in front of 6,211 fans at Littlejohn Coliseum.
Andre Young led the Tigers with 20 points. Clemson drops to
2-2 on the season, while Coastal Carolina improves to 5-0.
MIAMI 60, Florida Gulf Coast (Eagles, 10,333 students, Fort
Myers, FL) 50 – Malcolm Malcolm Grant scored 21 points to lead Miami. Grant
secured the win, converting 5 of 6 free throws in the final 1:21, as the
Hurricanes (4-0) held off a comeback attempt from the Eagles (2-3).
