FLORIDA STATE  73, UCF (Knights, 56,337 students, Orlando, FL) 50 – After an ankle injury limited him to just one point in the Seminoles' victorious season-opener last Friday, a healthy Bernard James' career evening guided FSU to a win over in-state foe UCF at the Donald L. Tucker Center.

BOSTON COLLEGE 67, New Hampshire (Wildcats, 12, 218 students, Durham, NH) 64 – Patrick Heckmann (19 points, 8 rebounds) hit a 3-pointer at the halftime buzzer from just inside midcourt as Boston College scored 14 of the last 15 points in the first to take the lead for good and beat New Hampshire.

VIRGINIA TECH  91, Monmouth (N.J.) (Hawks, 4,744 students, West Long Branch, NJ) 46 – Robert RBrown scored a game-high 19 points to pace five Virginia Tech players in double figures, and the Hokies cruised to an easy victory over Monmouth in an opening-round NIT Season Tip-off game played Monday night at Cassell Coliseum.

GEORGIA TECH 70, Delaware State (Hornets, 3,745 students, Dover, DE) 52 – Daniel aniel Miller matched his career high with 14 points and set a new high with 15 rebounds to lead Georgia Tech to a  win over Delaware State on Monday.
