That said, while Virginia Tech's offense was
much improved, Miami’s offense put on a show against the Hokies vaunted
defense. The combined stats read like
100 yard volleyball.
The Hokies and Canes combined for 73 points at
1,001 yards. That’s not a misprint, that’s
1,001 YARDS!
Jacory Harris was 13 for 21 for 267 yards and
three touchdowns. His battery mate,
running back Lamar Miller shredded, and we do mean SHREDDED, the Hokies defense
for 166 yards and a touchdown. Miller
averaged 9.2 yards PER CARRY.

As good as that one-two punch was, the Hokies
were better. Logan Thomas came back from one of the worst games of his life and completed 23 of 25
passes. He had more touchdown passes (3)
than he had incomplete passes (2). He
threw for 310 yards. Against Clemson, he
threw for 125 yards, no touchdowns and an interception.
Six ball carriers toted the pigskin for
Virginia Tech for a total of 172 yards. David
Wilson had 128 of those yards.
Like the Michigan victory over Notre Dame
earlier this season, thirty five points were scored in the fourth quarter –
actually, 35 points in 13 minutes.
