Tar Heels To Wear New Unis

Change is never all that popular.

The 2005 and 2009 NCAA Division 1 Men’s Basketball National Champion University of North Carolina Tar Heels will be bringing much the same team to the hardwoods on Friday when they hit the court for Late Night With Roy, but they will be donning new threads.

So far, the fan base has been underwhelmed…

While the front of the new jerseys - which were worn during yesterday's media day - are pretty much the same, the back will feature an aerographic design incorporating the Old Well, the outline of the state of North Carolina and a basketball, according to the school's website, tarheelblue.com.

The style should be familiar to ACC fans, and, subsequently, unpopular with UNC fans…In 2009, Duke started wearing Nike's aerographic design as an alternate road uniform. The Blue Devils’ uni features the gothic architecture of their Durham campus embedded on the back of their jerseys.  Texas and Kentucky also wear similar uniforms and neither team is particularly popular in Chapel Hill.

Needless, to say folks have opinions.  To get some from The Dagger, click here
