Pictures Of The Day

Competitors prepare at the start line for the 12 hour Lawn Mower Endurance Race on September 24, 2011 in Billingshurst, England. First started in 1973 as a motorsport that would be accessible to as many as possible, there is little commercialism or sponsorship, no cash prizes and no modifying of engines.  (Photo by Matthew Lloyd/Getty Images Europe)

Michael Vick (Virginia Tech) complained about some uncalled penalties following a loss to division rival New York Giants and was immediately labeled by some as a cry baby.  The argument goes that he runs around so he gets hit more.  He says he gets hit every play and never gets the call.  Of course, the truth lies somewhere in between.  What is surprising is the number of players (mostly Giants) and ESPN analysts (we presume who are required to take different sides of every argument) who claim the hits are legal when the video tape being shown clearly shows uncalled helmet-to-helmet contact.  There is one ref who watches the quarterback before, during and after he throws the ball, so how do you miss the 300lbs guy's head hitting the QB’s head…no matter who it is?

Last time we looked a volleyball net was 8 feet tall…Just sayin’.  Here, Francien Huumarn #3 of Netherlands and Oksana Parkhomenko #4 of Azerbaijan compete during the women Volleyball European Championship match between Netherlands and Azerbaijan on September 27, 2011 in Monza, Italy.
