McMartin was All-Met honorable mention and followed his football dreams to Charlottesville, but after two brain concussions (one against UNC and one in practice), the Wahoo docs told McMartin he couldn’t play again...ever.

(Editor’s note: Props to C. “Cuse” Giglio the newest member of the ACC family for the heads up on this story. Of course, having Syracuse in the ACC will seriously derail Gig’s favorite past time of lauding the Big (L)East and deriding the ACC. Now he will have to accept that the ACC is better -- otherwise, why would two esteemed educational institutions like Syracuse and Pitt leave the Big (L)East and join the obviously superior ACC. Their defection makes it clear that the student athlete experience and the quality of education and athletic competition is of an obviously higher caliber in the ACC since, at the end of the day, it is ALL about the student athletes and education. Welcome “Cuse.” Lets’ see how that pro-Coach K rap plays when he’s kickin’ your Orange butt twice a year...)
