T.A.H. Favorites Excel At Saratoga

STAY THIRSTY (NYRA Photo)
Official T.A.H. mascot Tar Heel Mom stumbled coming out of the starting gate but still managed to come home second in the $250,000 Ballerina Stakes Gr. 1 yesterday at Saratoga.  The effort was worth $50,000 to her connections.

The brilliantly named T.A.H. fave Stay Thirsty (the “my friend,” is, of course, implied) won the $1 million Travers Stakes impressively defeating Preakness winner Shackleford (8th) and Belmont winner Ruler On Ice (4th).  Two relative unknowns, Rattlesnake Bridge and J W Blue, grabbed the place and show.

2010 Two-year-old champ and injured Kentucky Derby favorite Uncle Mo returned to action and was second beaten a nose by Caleb’s Posse in an exciting version of the $250,000 Fowxood’s Kings Bishop Stakes Gr.1.

Hunch players had to be thrilled when Hot Summer won the $100,000 Victory Ride Stakes Gr.3 as she paid $16.40 for a $2 win wager.  The win by the Virginia-bred filly marks the second straight year that Lazy Lane Farm in Upperville, VA (just up the road from the undamaged T.A.H. Worldwide Media Headquarters) has bred a graded stakes winner at the prestigious Saratoga race meet.
