A year ago, Virginia advanced through the regional round and hosted a super regional, seeking a second consecutive trip to Omaha and the College World Series. Instead, the Cavaliers lost in three games to Oklahoma and watched a Sooners dogpile celebration on Davenport Field.
“That image of the Oklahoma dogpile, of not making it (to Omaha), that still resonates in everybody’s head,” said pitcher Tyler Wilson (7-0).
