ACC Dominates NFL Draft Second Round

Ras-I Dowling
Twelve of the 32 players chosen yesterday in the second round of the NFL draft enter pro football by way of an ACC schools with North Carolina, Clemson and Miami contributing three each on par or better than the football factories at Auburn, Florida, Nebraska, Michigan, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Penn State, Texas and USC.

LSU (329) and Alabama (4) lead all schools in players drafted during the first two rounds.  OK, LSU has five.

Clemson’s Da’Quan Bowers was taken as the 51st pick overall after plummeting from a speculative first round pick as a result of concerns over his knee.  Not only was he not one of the first players at his position chosen, he wasn’t even the first Tiger chosen in the second round with teammates Jarvis Jenkins (41) going to Washington and Marcus Gilchrist (51) headed to San Diego.

Ryan Williams
Maryland’s Torrey Smith is staying close to home as he was drafted by the Baltimore Ravens.
