Smith averaged 26.0 points, 4.0 assists and 2.5 rebounds per game in leading fifth-ranked Duke to wins over No. 20 North Carolina and Miami. The Upper Marlboro, Md., senior was 19-of-37 (.514) from the field on the week, including 5-of-10 (.500) from 3-point range. Smith opened the week scoring a career-high 34 points to go along with three assists in Wednesday’s 79-73 win over North Carolina. In Sunday’s 81-71 win at Miami, he finished with 18 points and five assists despite playing only 29 minutes.
Marshall averaged 13.5 points and 4.5 assists as the 20th-ranked Tar Heels split a pair of conference games on the week. The Dumfries, Va., freshman had a career-high 18 points, including 14 in the second half, three assists and three steals in Saturday’s 64-62 win at Clemson. Earlier in the week, Marshall had nine points, six assists and only one turnover in 37 minutes in a 79-73 loss at No. 5 Duke.
