T.A.H. HITS 300,000

Thank you.

We love you.

ACC TOURNAMENT SEEDS SET

Duke will defend its ACC title as the No. 1 seed in the ACC Tournament. The Blue Devil's win Saturday also established the seeds for Maryland (2) and Virginia (9).

Duke and Maryland both finished 13-3 and split the regular-season series. Duke's season sweep of Clemson, and Maryland's season split with the Tigers, provided the tiebreaker in the ACC's "best win" system.

Florida State (3) and Virginia Tech (4) received the other two byes.

Thursday's schedule:
No. 8 Boston College vs. No. 9 Virginia, noon
No. 5 Wake Forest vs. No. 12 Miami, 2
No. 7 Georgia Tech vs. No. 10 UNC, 7
No. 6 Clemson vs. No. 11 N.C. State, 9

Friday's schedule:
No. 1 Duke vs. BC-UVa winner, noon
No. 4 Virginia Tech vs. Wake-Miami winner, 2
No. 2 Maryland vs. GT-UNC winner, 7
No. 3 vs. Clemson-State winner, 9

SUNDAY ACC HOOPS

WAKE FOREST 70, CLEMSON 65 – Al-Farouq Aminu broke out of his slump with 18 points and 12 rebounds, and Wake Forest continued its home dominance of Clemson on Sunday. The loss cost the Tigers' a first-round bye in the ACC tournament.

Ishmael Smith added 17 points as the Demon Deacons (19-9, 8-8) snapped a four-game losing streak, improved their NCAA tournament resume and earned the fifth seed for the league tournament.

Clemson would've secured the No. 3 seed if it was able to win at Joel Coliseum for the first time since 1990. But with top scorer Trevor Booker neutralized and the outside shots not falling, the Tigers (21-9, 9-7) slipped to the sixth seed and allowed Florida State to move into the third spot.

N.C. STATE 66, BOSTON COLLEGE 54 – There was a loud thud, there was blood, and there was dazed Dennis Horner's Senior Day turning into a nightmare.

With the mindset of a resilient boxer, Horner was determined to return. So after a trip to the lockerroom for "six or seven" super-glue stitches, he came back and helped the Wolfpack floor the Eagles 66-54 and close its regular season on a positive note.

The victory -- framed by a sloppy start and strong finish – pushed State's overall record to 17-14 overall.

SCHEYER, VASQUEZ NOMINATED FOR POST-SEASON AWARDS

Jon Scheyer of Duke and Grevis Vasquez of Maryland, the front-runners for Atlantic Coast Conference player of the year, are among the six finalists for the Bob Cousy Award presented to the top point guard in college basketball.

The other finalists are freshman standout John Wall of Kentucky, seniors Sherron Collins of Kansas and Scottie Reynolds of Villanova, and Ohio State’s Evan Turner, a 6-foot-7 junior who is considered one of the sport’s most versatile players.

The finalists were announced Saturday by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and came from an original list of 73 nominees from all three NCAA divisions.

The award will be presented April 5 at the Final Four.

Ty Lawson of North Carolina won the award last season.

NUMBER 70. Connecticut's Tina Charles, center, is pressured by Syracuse's Erica Morrow, left, and Tyler Ash, right, dBolduring the first half of a quarterfinal game of the NCAA college Big East women's basketball championship in Hartford, Conn., Sunday, March 7, 2010.

Their 70th win in a row tied the program’s own record for the longest winning streak in women’s college basketball. Each win has come by at least 10 points and an average of more than 32.

TAR HEELS’ UGLY SEASON ENDS WITH UGLIEST LOSS

NO. 4 DUKE 82, NORTH CAROLINA 50 – The three previous times Jon “Crazy Face” Scheyer, Lance “Whatever Happened to Clarence” Thomas and Brian “Zzzzzzz” Zoubek faced their arch rival on their home court, North Carolina’s Tyler Hansbrough and his trio of bound-for-the-NBA buddies dealt them a loss. Last night was the last chance for those seniors to score a win over the Heels at Cameron Indoor Stadium and to sweep the famous Tobacco Road series for the first time since 2004.

They did both.

Emphatically.

Kyle “Twilight” Singler scored 19 of his 25 points in the decisive first half and No. 4 Duke routed their rival.

Jon “Crazy Face” Scheyer had 20 points in his final game at Cameron Indoor Stadium for the Blue Devils (26-5, 13-3), who earned their most lopsided home win over their fiercest rival.
They shot nearly 46 percent - 51 percent in a dominant first half - and made eight 3-pointers in beating North Carolina at home for the first time since 2005. Duke clinched a share of its 12th Atlantic Coast Conference regular-season title and wrapped up the No. 1 seed in next week's league tournament.

Freshman John Henson matched a season high with 14 points for the Tar Heels (16-15, 5-11). They endured their worst loss in seven years and had their lowest point total under coach Roy Williams.

Nolan Smith scored 20 points and Brian Zoubek added 13 rebounds for the Blue Devils. They took command with an early 31-8 run, led by 30 in the first half and showed no mercy in polishing off their first sweep of North Carolina since 2004.

Thompson finished with 11 points for the Tar Heels, who were serenaded by chants of "NIT" throughout and played without freshman guard Leslie McDonald after team officials said he strained his right hamstring during Friday's practice.

TERPS TIE FOR REGULAR SEASON TITLE

NO. 22 MARYLAND, 74, VIRGINIA 68 – Rookie Coach Tony Bennett had a meltdown at exactly the wrong time giving Maryland the extra points in needed to secure a piece of the ACC regular season title.

With the Terrapins leading by a point, a blocking foul was called on Jerome Meyinsse. Apparently, everybody in the building and most at home watching thought was a charge. The ref called a block and Bennett went off. The first-year coach peeled his jacket off and threw it, and was called for a technical foul that essentially rescued the Terps.

Greivis Vasquez finished with 23 points, including both free throws on the technical with 38.6 seconds to play, and Sean Mosley added two more right after as Maryland held on, 74-68.
The Terrapins (23-7, 13-3 ACC) clinched at least a tie for the conference regular season title with their seventh victory in a row, but let a Cavaliers team playing without suspended scoring leader Sylven Landesberg cut an 11-point deficit to one in the final minute.

Meyinsse led Virginia (14-15, 5-11) with 17 points in his final home game. Jeff Jones hit 4 of 6 3-point attempts and scored 16 points, and Sammy Zeglinski had 14 with four threes.

VIRGINIA TECH 88, GEORGIA TECH 82 – Virginia Tech completed the regular season with an 88-82 victory at Georgia Tech on Saturday afternoon at Alexander Memorial Coliseum in Atlanta. With the win, the Hokies improve to 23-7 and 10-6 in ACC action, while the Yellow Jackets fall to 19-11 overall and 7-9 in conference play.

The Hokies played without second leading scorer Dorenzo Hudson, who missed the game do to a bone bruise in his right foot. Freshman Manny Atkins made his first career start in his hometown and contributed five points and career highs of five assists and seven rebounds in a career-high 38 minutes of action.

Delaney’s 32 points led for Hokies in double figures. Jeff Allen added 17 points and 10 rebounds and Bell, who along with Atkins are natives of nearby Stone Mountain, Ga., recorded his first career double-double with 14 points and 13 points. Victor Davila added 10 points for the Hokies. Yellow Jacket post players Gani Lawal and Derrick Favors each scored 18 points in the loss.

FLORIDA STATE 61, MIAMI 60 – Luke Loucks' three-pointer with 1:52 remaining put Florida State ahead as his basket was the final margin in the Seminoles victory over the Hurricanes Saturday afternoon.

The Hurricanes had three opportunities to retake the lead, including Scott's missed jumper at the buzzer.

Loucks and Deividas Dulkys each scored 13 points to lead the Seminoles (22-8, 10-6 Atlantic Coast Conference). Scott was the high scorer for Miami (18-15, 4-12) with 14 points.

Behind four 3-pointers, Florida State built a 14-point lead in the opening 9:05 of the first half. The Seminoles ran off 10 unanswered points during their early advantage, capped by Xavier Gibson's 3-pointer with 10:55 remaining for a 19-5 Florida State lead.

But the Hurricanes responded and outscored the Seminoles 14-4 in the next 6:13. Reggie Johnson's two free throws with 4:42 cut Florida State's lead to 23-19.

QUOTE OF THE DAY

"This is the first time that we've had to come in this locker room after a loss. But the thing is, teams in the past found success here because we were tough enough and we came in and stuck it out through the times that weren't going our way and we made things go our way. And tonight we didn't do that. They were the aggressors on everything, and when it got tough, we allowed them to put it on us."

– North Carolina fifth-year senior Marcus Ginyard.

LANDESBERG SUSPENDED, OUT OF TOURNAMENT

Virginia guard Sylven Landesberg missed Saturday's 74-68 loss to Maryland, will not play in the ACC tournament -- and might have played his final game for the Cavs.

Landesberg was suspended for the season for "failure to live up to his academic obligations," the university announced in a statement. Even before the season, there had been speculation about whether Landesberg will enter the NBA draft following his sophomore year.

Landesberg is "definitely considering" a jump to the professional ranks, a source with direct knowledge of the situation told the Washington Post. The source added that Landesberg might also opt to play in Europe or Israel.

TERPS KNOCK OFF DUKE ON SENIOR NIGHT

NO. 22 MARYLAND 79, NO. 4 DUKE 72 - Greivis "The Venezuelan Cyclone" Vasquez saved his best for last. Vasquez scored 20 points, including a clutch basket with 37 seconds left, and No. 22 Maryland beat fourth-ranked Duke 79-72 Wednesday night to move into a tie with the Blue Devils atop the Atlantic Coast Conference standings.

It was the final home game for Vasquez, who was honored with seniors Landon Milbourne and Eric Hayes before the game.
Afterward, all three were mobbed with their teammates as fans rushed the court to celebrate Maryland's first win over Duke in seven tries.

The Terps ran off to an early lead, but were temporarily befuddled by when Coach K tossed a zone defense at them. But Vasquez & Co. found a new rhythm in the second half and wound up shooting 50% from the field and winning the rebound battle 36-35.

Remember just a few years back, when some Maryland fans and alums were calling for Coach Right Guard's head? Now, the Terps are back on the top of the heap. What were they thinking?

Coach Williams declared himself both happy and proud.

Nice, Terps, NICE!

SECOND-MOST EXCITING AND IMPORTANT ACC GAME OF THE YEAR NETS TAR HEELS 2,OOOTH WIN

Unranked NORTH CAROLINA 69, Unranked MIAMI 62 – In a thrilling game replete with record breaking performances, unranked North Carolina became just the second NCAA basketball program (along with Kentucky) to win 2,000 games.

Senior Marcus Ginyard playing in his final game at the Dean Smith Center, and wearing the coveted Carolina blue and argyle, enjoyed a record-setting night with his first career double/double scoring 12 points and grabbing 12 rebounds to go with five assists.

Miami freshman Durand Scott joined the onslaught of the ACC record book scoring his career best…mind you, his career is only 29-games-old. Scott scored 29 points which is a record for a Hurricane freshman in the Dean Dome. It was also the third -maybe second, we aren’t sure which -highest point production by a freshman in this ACC season to remember.

Carolina senior Deon Thompson scored 14 points playing in his final home appearance as the Heels (16-14, 5-10 ACC) won consecutive games for the first time in 2010. Coming off a surprise win at Wake Forest, North Carolina got off to a fast start against the Hurricanes, then used a 13-0 first-half run to go ahead for good.

Unranked Miami, which trailed by double digits in both the first and second half, turned this into one of the “most exciting” games of the year with a late run that closed the gap to just three points. But poor shot selection and Chapel Hill mojo ultimately doomed the Canes in a showdown between coaching legends Ol’ Roy and Frank Haith. These two NIT bound behemoths were duking it out to avoid last place and an even more uphill climb in the upcoming ACC tournament (that neither team has a shot in you-know-what of winning.)

Hitting the 2,000-win mark provided an achievement in an otherwise frustrating centennial season for North Carolina, though Kentucky already reached that milestone in December. No. 2 Kansas has 1,997 victories heading into Wednesday's game against No. 5 Kansas State and Duke has just over 1,900 as they prepare for Maryland tonight.

THIRD MOST-EXCITING AND IMPORTANT GAME OF THE YEAR PRIMES TIGERS FOR TOURNAMENT RUN

CLEMSON 91, GEORGIA TECH 80 – Trevor Trevor Booker closed out his home career at Clemson with 21 points to lead the surging Tigers to a victory over Georgia Tech on Tuesday night.

Demontez Stitt added 20 points as Clemson (21-8, 9-6 ACC) won for the fifth time in six games and all but cemented a spot in the NCAA tournament.

The Tigers used a 25-7 run that spanned the halves to take control of what had been a 41-41 game. The Yellow Jackets (19-10, 7-8) could not respond and now are in desperation mode, needing to beat Virginia Tech on Saturday simply to finish .500 in the league.

THE WORST TURNOVER OF THE 2010 ACC SEASON

Not only did Miami lose last night in Chapel Hill, but they also committed the ugliest turnover of the season. Mind you they only had eight turnovers, but this one was a peach.

With nine minutes in change to go in the game, Miami guard Malcolm Grant fires a pass from the far corner to his teammate James Dews who was standing along the baseline in front of the Miami bench. Problem was Dews was behind the baseline standing in front of the Canes’ bench for the simple reason that he wasn’t in the game.

We have consulted the crack research staff at T.A.H. Worldwide Media and nobody recalls ever seeing a player attempt to throw a pass (intentionally) to a player who wasn’t actually in the game…

Proves yet again, that records are made to be BROKEN and covered IN DEPTH here at TodaysACCHeadlines.com!

PICTURE(S) OF THE DAY

HMMM. Last night in Chapel Hill, the Tar Heels were going for win number 2,000, Tyler Hansbrough was in the house and they honored Donald Williams, Most Outstanding Player of the 1993 Final Four.

In spite of all that, there were empty seats in the upper deck of the Dean Dome.

Williams had his jersey honored at halftime. Cleverly, the name above the new No. 21 in the rafters includes the first initial "D" to distinguish him from Jawad Williams, who played on the 2005 NCAA Division 1 Men’s Basketball National Championship team also wearing No. 21.

MOST EXCITING AND IMPORTANT RECORD-SETTING ACC GAME OF THE SEASON CATAPULTS SURGING TERPS INTO THE TOP 25

The Maryland men's basketball team returned to the national rankings on Monday after what some Terps’ fans have inferred was both the most exciting and most important ACC game of the 2009-10 season.

The Terrapins were 22nd in the Associated Press media poll and came in at 23rd in the ESPN/USA Today coaches' rankings. That is some 20 to 22 spots lower than where the the University of North Carolina Tar Heels spent the entirety of last season before ultimately winning the ACC Tournament and the 2009 NCAA Division 1 Men’s Basketball National Championship for the fourth time.

It was the first time Maryland has been ranked since Nov. 23, when the Terps were 21st in AP and 22nd in the coaches' poll.

Maryland has clinched at least second place in the ACC regular-season standings after its 104-100 victory at Virginia Tech in double overtime on Saturday. Greivis Vasquez had a career-high 41 points against the Hokies.

The Terrapins will face Duke on Wednesday night at Comcast Center at 9 p.m. in a game nationally televised on ESPN. The Blue Devils, 25-4 overall and 12-2 in the ACC, were ranked fourth in both polls this week.

(Editor’s note: We apologize for the crude graphics but even though Terps v. Hokies was seen as the most important and exciting game of the season by some, no major media outlets have published any photos. Only HokieSports.com has any and they, believe it or not, will not allow T.A.H. to publish their pics! Also please be advised, that today's issue also has a running "inside joke" which is not intended to offend or anger anyone or group, but solely to make the "inside group" laugh.)

MOST EXCITING AND IMPORTANT RECORD-SETTING ACC GAME OF THE SEASON LANDS TWO TERPS PLAYER OF THE WEEK HONORS

Maryland’s Terrapins made a clean sweep of this week’s ACC basketball honors as senior Greivis Vasquez was named ACC Player of the Week and freshman Jordan Williams earned ACC Rookie of the Week honors following what some Terps’ fans have inferred was both the most exciting and most important ACC game of the 2009-10 season.

In earning the Player of the Week Award for the second-straight week and fourth time this season, Vasquez was a unanimous selection after averaging 28.0 points, 9.5 assists and 4.5 rebounds as Maryland extended its win streak to five in a row with ACC victories over Clemson and Virginia Tech.

In Wednesday’s 88-79 win over the visiting Tigers, the Caracus, Venezuela, senior turned in his 12th career double-double with 15 points, 13 assists and two rebounds. Three nights later in a 104-100 double-overtime road victory over the Hokies, Vasquez scored a career-high 41 points to go along with seven rebounds and six assists. Vasquez’s 41 points mark only the fifth time in league history that an ACC player has scored 40-or-more points in a league road game.

In earning the Rookie of the Week Award for the second time this season, Williams averaged 13.5 points and 10.0 rebounds in Maryland’s two wins last week.

In Wednesday’s nine-point win over Clemson, the Torrington, Conn., freshman made 8-of-12 from the field and scored 18 points to go along with five rebounds, one blocked shot and one steal. In Saturday’s double-overtime win at Virginia Tech, Williams pulled down a career-high 15 rebounds, scored nine points and blocked two shots.

COVERAGE OF MOST EXCITING AND IMPORTANT RECORD-SETTING ACC GAME OF THE SEASON IRKS GARY WILLIAMS AND MIKE KRZXRHSW8SKI

Duke head coach Mike Krzyshbvn6ski is once again unhappy with the media coverage of his team according to the Charlotte Observer’s Ken Tysiac.

Tysiac pointed out that it “seemed strange to hear Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski complaining Sunday night about the tone the media take toward the Blue Devils.”

Following a 67-49 shellacking of Virginia, Coach K was asked if fifth-ranked Duke (25-4, 12-2 ACC) is flying "under the radar."

"I think over the years, after we've had some success, we are not talked about much when we're good," Krzyzewski said. "It’s only when we lose. So I don't think we're ever 'under the radar.' It's just that the radar only shows up when we get our butts beat."

"Believe me, I'm not a paranoid person," he said. "But I've just learned that over this last decade, that that kind of happens."

According to Tysiac, “there is some validity to what Krzyzewski says. When you're Duke or Kentucky or UCLA, people expect you to be near the top of the college basketball world. By journalistic standards, that's called "dog bites man." That happens every day, so it's not considered big news.

To read more about what is and isn’t news, click here.

In a related item, sources close to T.A.H. say Maryland head coach Gary Williams was unhappy with our lack of coverage of his Terps amazing, incredible and unbelievably important double overtime victory over the 21-7 unranked Virginia Tech Hokies following a three hour delay last Saturday caused by a Blacksburg campus-wide pee-a-thon for charity gone way wrong.

We (don't) apologize for any error we may (not) have made in thie matter.

WAHOOS TOP BASEBALL POLL

After two weeks, top-ranked Virginia is having little trouble maintaining its spot atop the Rivals.com Top 25. The Cavaliers hosted Rhode Island over the weekend in what wasn’t a very competitive series.

For the record, Rhode Island is a very small state.

Elsewhere in the top five, UC Irvine dropped from No. 3 to No. 9 following a dismal showing on the East Coast. Outside of Virginia, the rest of the top five includes No. 2 LSU, No. 3 Florida State, No. 4 Florida and No. 5 Texas.

Other ranked ACC teams include Georgia Tech (7), Clemson (12), North Carolina (19) and Miami (20).

Here are the conference breakdowns: ACC (6), SEC (6), Pac-10 (3), Big 12 (2), C-USA (2), Big West (2), Big East (1), Big Ten (1), Big South (1), Mountain West (1).

BAD CALL? Virginia Tech head coach Seth Greenberg argues a critical call during Saturday's incredible overtime loss to Maryland. Maryland won 104 to 100 in the highest scoring ACC regular season game since 2003.

Grievis Vasquez stopped talking long enough to score a career high 41 points while becoming only the ninth ACC player to top 40 in a road game.

SUNDAY NIGHT HOOPS

NO. 5 DUKE 67, VIRGINIA 49 – Kyle “Twilight” Singler scored 21 points as No. 5 Duke beat shorthanded Virginia on Sunday night. The Blue Devils (25-4, 12-2 ACC) remained a game ahead of Maryland heading into a first-place showdown with the Terps in College Park, Md., on Wednesday night.

Jon “Crazy Face” Scheyer added 20 points for Duke in its eight straight win and fourth consecutive victory in the series.

The Blue Devils took command right away, opening the game on a 20-4 run. Singler had 11 points before Virginia had two field goals, and from there the Cavaliers never got closer than 10. They trailed 35-21 at halftime and went 5 minutes without a field goal after the break.

The Cavaliers (14-13, 5-9) lost their seventh straight playing without scoring leader Sylven Landesberg, who sustained a bruised right thigh in Virginia's loss at Miami last week.

Jerome Meyinsse scored 21 points for Virginia, seven more than his previous career best, but was the only Cavaliers player to make up for Landesberg's missing points. Mike Scott, the Cavaliers No. 2 scorer with a 12.8 average, went scoreless for a second straight game, with 0-for-6 shooting in 12 minutes.

CLEMSON 53, FLORIDA STATE 50 – Trevor Booker scored 19 points and grabbed 11 rebounds Sunday as Clemson rebounded from an early 13-point deficit to defeat Florida State 53-50, sweeping its season series with the Seminoles.

Booker hit four straight free throws in the final 11 seconds and blocked a 3-point shot by the Seminoles' Deividas Dulkys with 5 seconds left that could have tied it.

But it was the outside sniping of sophomore guard Andre Young from nearby Albany, Ga., that made the difference. His 3-point basket gave the Tigers a 49-47 lead with 30 seconds left.

Young finished with 12 points for Clemson (20-8, 8-6 Atlantic Coast Conference). Florida State (20-8, 8-6) didn't have a player in double figures.

SATURDAY ACC HOOPS

By now, you should know what happened. Just in case you don’t, here’s the Readers Digest version.

MARYLAND 104, VIRGNIA TECH 100 – A water main broke at Cassel Coliseum delaying Terps v. Hokies some three hours. When the game finally started, both squads did their best to extend the game as long as possible with Maryland finally winning 104-100 in double overtime.

Greivis Vasquez was the man scoring 41 points – 33 in the second half. Malcolm Delaney paced Tech with 27 points, hitting 9 of 17 from the floor. He also hit 8 of 10 from the free-throw line and played all 50 minutes.

GEORGIA TECH 73, BOSTON COLLEGE 68 – Inconsistent Georgia Tech got 24 from Iman Shumpert and 14 from Derrick Flavors to snap Boston College’s two-game winning streak.

NORTH CAROLINA 77, WAKE FOREST 68 – In what had to be the surprise of the day, the Tar Heels got some desperately needed offense from freshman Leslie McDonald who scored 16 points. The rare out-of-Triangle win for North Carolina moves them to 15-14 (4-1- ACC) and the Deacs to 18-8 (8-6).

N.C. STATE 71, MIAMI 66 – Speaking of inconsistent, have you met Miami? Tracy Smith and Javier Gonzalez scored 19 points each to lead lead the Wolfpack (16-3,4-10) over Miami (18-10, 4-10). Miami, N.C. State and North Carolina now enjoying gridlock at the bottom of the ACC standings…

T.A.H. SETS NEW WEEKLY MARK

Last week, 7,850 fans of ACC sports and drinking games visited TodaysACCHeadlines.com setting a new record for visits in one week. The old record of 5,065 came on the heels of the Tiger Woods’ sex scandal which eclipsed the 4,444 that came during the last week of March in 2009 as the 2009 NCAA Division 1 Men’s Basketball National Champion University of North Carolina Tar Heels were marching toward the Final Four and ultimately their second title of the decade.

Last week, those very same Tar Heel fans (an abundance of them UNC students according to our “analytics”) stormed T.A.H. to enjoy a little piece we received via several emails called North Carolina Tar Heel Drinking Game (By Ranzino4threec).

Everyone at T.A.H. Worldwide Media Headquarters appreciates the love.

T.A.H. UNOFFICIAL MASCOT SENT TO REHAB

Speaking of drinking games, our unofficial mascot Zhora the chimpanzee is headed off to rehab after developing a penchant for cigarettes and booze.

Some years ago, T.A.H. adopted/sponsored Zhora via the formerly well-utilized Russian International Chimp Adoption Program. Zhora, a circus performer at teh time, was clearly frustrated by his lack of time in the center ring, and eventually became too aggressive. Ultimately, he was transferred to a zoo in the southern Russian city of Rostov.

According to a popular daily paper there, the Komsomolskaya Pravda, he fathered several baby chimps, learned to draw with markers and “picked up” two vices.

Whoa there, Mr. J. Fred Muggs, just exactly how did our sweet Zhora “pick up” smoking and drinking? Did he sell some of his magic marker art down at the ape art gallery and then take his hard earned cash over to the Chimpanzee convenience store and score a pack of cowboy killers and six pack of Bud? We don’t think so!

Apparently Zhora thought smoking and drinking excessively would help him return to the spotlight in his chosen profession of acting. His consumption increased dramatically after his keepers showed him a series of Mickey Rourke movies.

According to the newspaper, “The beer and cigarettes were ruining him. He would pester passers-by for booze.”

Zookeepers blame zoo visitors for giving Zhora too many “treats.”

Nice, Zhora, NICE!
