Terps' Franklin Headed For Vanderbilt?

Maryland offensive coordinator and head-coach-in-waiting James Franklin is a finalist for the head coaching job at Vanderbilt, a source has told the Nashville Tennessean.

Auburn offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn is Vanderbilt's top choice on a short list of remaining football coaching candidates and was in Nashville this week to interview.

Vanderbilt would also be interested in speaking with Navy Coach Ken Niumatalolo, whose team plays Army today. Navy spokesperson Scott Strasemeier said Niumatalolo is "firmly committed" to staying at Navy.

Michigan State offensive coordinator Don Treadwell and Stanford offensive coordinator Greg Roman are also on the list. Roman was not brought back to Nashville this week for a second interview.
