Scott had back-to-back double-doubles in road wins over No. 15 Minnesota (Nov. 29) and Virginia Tech (Dec. 5) last week. The 6-8, 242-pound senior forward from Chesapeake, Va., averaged 19.0 points and 12.5 rebounds in the two games. For the week, Scott was 15-of-29 (.518) from the field and seven-of-nine (.778) from the free throw line. In Virginia's win at Minnesota, he tallied 17 points and had a game-high 12 rebounds to go along with three assists. In Sunday's 57-54 win at Virginia Tech in the ACC opener for both teams, Scott scored 21 points and had a game-high 13 rebounds.
In earning his third ACC Rookie of the Week honor, Irving averaged 26.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.5 steals per game in wins over No. 6 Michigan State and Butler. The West Orange, N.J., native was 14-of-22 (.636) from the field, including 5-of-9 (.556) from three-point range, and 19-of-22 (.864) from the free throw line. Irving opened the week with a 31-point, six-rebound, four-assist effort in an 84-79 win over the Spartans. In Saturday's 82-70 win over Butler, a rematch of last year's National Championship game, Irving had 21 points, two rebounds and two assists.
