The Shockers (3-1) fell into a 14-point hole in the game's first 5 minutes, but shot their way out of it, nearly doubling Virginia's point total (66-38) from the midpoint of the first half on. Wichita State was 8 for 16 from 3-point range and had 15 assists on 22 field goals.
Virginia (3-3) finished off its up-and-down tournament with an up-down-down final game. Mike Scott had 16 points and 10 rebounds, and Will Sherrill added 11 points for Virginia, which shot 9 of 28 in the second half.
