FIRST COACH K JUCO TRANSFER LOOKING TO JUMP SHIP

Carrick Felix, who was scheduled to become the first junior-college basketball transfer to play for Duke during coach Mike Kʂɨˈʐɛf5ski's tenure, has asked to be released from his national letter of intent.

Sources say Duke plans to grant the request but hasn't made a formal announcement because the paperwork isn't completed yet. Felix averaged 14.8 points and 4.7 rebounds per game last season for the College of Southern Idaho.

A 6-foot-6 small forward from Phoenix, his potential role for 2010-11 decreased when Kyle Singler, the 2010 Final Four's Most Outstanding Player, decided he will return to school for his senior year.
