NORTH AMERICAN SWEEP. When Cathleen Martini, the German bobsledder who was a heavy favorite to win Gold in the two-women bobsled, was disqualified after a spectacular crash, the stage was set for a North American medal sweep – a first in Olympic history.

Here, the Canada-1 women bobsleigh pilot Kaillie Humphries (c-l) and brakeman Heather Moyse (c-r) celebrate winning gold in the two-man bobsleigh event with Canada-2 silver medalists, pilot Helen Upperton (Bottom-l) and brakeman Anne Shelley-Brown (l) and bronze medalists the USA-2 pilot Erin Pac (bottom-r) and brakeman Elana Meyers (r) in the Vancouver Winter Olympics at the Whistler sliding centre on February 24, 2010.
