NOT SO GREAT. The Vancouver 2010 games got off to a rocky start. Georgian luger Nodar Kumaritashvili was killed during a practice run, the Men’s Downhill was postponed due to warm weather and one arm of the Olympic Cauldron refused to emerge from the stage for the climactic moment of the Opening Ceremonies.

Other than that, it was a lovely ceremony in an amazingly beautiful locale.

Here, the Great One Wayne Gretsky and wheelchair athlete Rick Hansen, prepare to light the Olympic flame with the help of speed skater Catriona Le May Doan, basketball player Steve Nash and Alpine skier Nancy Greene.
