GARY “SPEED STICK” WILLIAMS WINS #1,000

Along with a National Championship, add 1,000 games coached to Maryland’s Gary Williams’ resume. The Terps notched the victory at home against an ACC foe whipping N.C. State 88-64 Saturday night.

The Terrapins didn't even make Williams sweat – a near impossibility – as Greivis Vasquez scored 17 of his 19 points in the second half and Landon Milbourne put up 18 in route to Maryland’s most lopsided victory of the season.

Williams' latest victory at his alma mater, combined with Virginia's loss at Wake Forest, lifted the Terrapins (13-5, 3-1) into a tie atop the ACC standings.

  1. Good catch. He was coaching in his 1,000th game. I was thinking...hmmmm, you'd have to win 25 games a year for 40 seasons...oops.
