N.C. STATE 79, Elon 76 - Senior forward Dennis Horner scored a career-high 23 points and turned two big hustle plays into a four-point possession as NC State topped Elon in the Wolfpack's final game before the start of Atlantic Coast Conference play.

State trailed for most of the first 30 minutes of the contest until Horner grabbed a pair of offensive rebounds – the first off a Julius Mays missed jumper, the second off his own missed free throw – with 9:18 to play, tying the game at 55-55.

The Phoenix went ahead again by four points, but Tracy Smith converted a three-point play and freshman Josh Davis stole a pass and went in for an uncontested dunk with 5:10 to play for a 64-61 advantage.

FLORIDA STATE 76, Auburn 72 - Solomon Alabi equaled a career high with 22 points to lead Florida State. He scored all but two of his points in the second half but got little help as the Seminoles blew a 12-point lead. Alabi, in one stretch, scored nine straight points including a pair of free throws that broke the last of two second half ties at 63.

Deividas Dulkys and Michael Snaer each had 14 for Florida State (9-2).
