Washington Redskins’ executive vice president of football operations Vinny Cerrato has resigned, a team source tells ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter.

It was not immediately clear when the team would make an official announcement.

The resignation was first reported by ESPN 980 in Washington. D.C.

(Editor’s note: As we don’t subscribe to the “singular fault” theory with regard to…let’s see…anything, we won’t blame Vinnie entirely for the train wreck that has been the Redskins’s season up until the last several weeks when the back-ups have suddenly become competitive with the likes of the Cowboys and Saints. Of course, we realize The Danny of Dear Mr. Snyder fame has been guiding his own personal Titanic directly at any and all icebergs is his ever-clouded sight line. However, we’ve never been a big fan of Cerrato’s. This probably means that Zorn’s out, Vinnie’s out and everybody else is out, as Captain Snyder looks to hire a new coach/GM of the Shanahan, Holmgren or Cower ilk.)
