Three ACC teams went into the Mens D1 Soccer Tournament (PLAYOFFS!?!) – North Carolina, Wake Forest and Virginia – and only the Wahoos made it to the finals.

Two minutes and 44 seconds into overtime Brian Ownby (#12 with jersey and without jersey) took Jonathan Villanueva's pass from midfield and chipped it over the head of Wake Forest goalkeeper Akira Fitzgerald for the golden goal to give the Cavaliers a 2-1 NCAA Tournament semifinal win.

Virginia (18-3-3) will play for its sixth national title when it takes on Akron in the College Cup final at 1 p.m. Sunday at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary. The Cavaliers have made it to the final 10 times.

In the other semi, the No.1 Akron Zips survived a penalty kick shoot-out with the Tar Heels. After the teams played to a 0-0 tie through two overtime periods, junior midfielder Blair Gavin delivered the deciding penalty kick to the lower-left corner of the net, and Akron (23-0-1) got by North Carolina 5-4.
