NO. 9 DUKE 104, Radford 67Duke matched a school record with 18 3-pointers in a 104-67 romp against Radford on Saturday behind a season-high 20 points from freshman Andre Dawkins.
Nolan Smith added 20 points and Jon Scheyer had 18 for the Blue Devils (4-0), who overwhelmed Radford during a first half in which they shot 50 percent, matched the school record with 13 3s in a half and put this one away with a huge run.
VIRGINIA 76, Oral Roberts 55
Mike Scott scored 15 points and grabbed 10 rebounds and Sylven Landesberg added 14 points to lead Virginia to a 76-55 win over Oral Roberts in the final states-side game of the Cancun Challenge on Saturday.
On Tuesday in Cancun, Mexico, Virginia (3-1) plays Stanford. Oral Roberts (2-2) takes on Sam Houston State.
The double-double was the second of the season for Scott and the 12th of his career.FLORIDA STATE 89, Mercer 50
Sophomore Deividas Dulkys led a balanced offensive attack with 14 points and All-American Solomon Alabi led a ferocious defensive effort with five blocked shots to lead undefeated Florida State to an 89-50 victory over Mercer at the University Center.
Dulkys led five Seminoles in double figures for the second time in three games and the Seminoles blocked 13 shots, were credited with 11 steals and limited the Bears to 19.7 percent shooting from the field.
Florida State won its third consecutive games by at least 26 points to improve its record to 3-0. The Bears, playing during campus homecoming ceremonies, fell to 3-2.
Florida State set the tone for the game early as they limited Mercer to one point for a span of more than 10:00 during the first half of the game. After spotting the Bears a 3-0 lead, the Seminoles scored 21 of the next 25 points to take a 21-7 lead with 7:21 left in the first half. The Seminoles led by as many as 22 points in the half as they took a 40-18 halftime lead.
N.C. STATE 66, Austin Peay 59NC State survived a late Austin Peay charge, as the Wolfpack improves to 3-0 on the young season with a win Saturday night at the Glenn Wilkes Classic.
The Governor's cut a 16-point Wolfpack halftime lead down to just four points with 1:06 left, but the Pack's Tracy Smith converted a three-point play with 35 seconds left to cushion the Pack's lead.
The NC State offense did not get out to a strong start like yesterday, as the game was close until midway through the first half. With NC State leading 18-14, the Pack would go on a 10-1 run and increase a lead it would hold the rest of the game.
