TUESDAY’S LINKS

Posted by ESPN.com's Heather Dinich:

*No, Boston College coach Frank Spaziani said, losing to Notre Dame wasn't "OK." And the Eagles aren't going to catch any sort of break this weekend against Central Michigan (I've got them ranked in my Top 25 this week.)

*North Carolina's chances of going to a bowl game decreased after last Thursday night's loss to FSU, but the Tar Heels are trying to think about the Hokies, not the postseason.

*N.C. State will find out very quickly if the bye week helped its defense, as Christian Ponder is gearing up to pick apart the Pack.

*Virginia's defense will go from facing Georgia Tech's run-based offense to Duke's high-flying passing attack.
Miami linebacker Sean Spence will miss the Wake Forest game with what appears to be a knee injury.

*There's a cause for alarm at NC State and North Carolina, where coaches with strong resumes are still struggling in their third seasons.

*Virginia Tech coach Bud Foster is looking for improvement -- consistently -- from his defense.

*FSU's defense could use a little of that, too, but Mickey Andrews knows what it will take to try to stop Russell Wilson & Co.

*Clemson's unheralded fullback has helped the Tigers move forward.

*The Hokies and the Yellow Jackets have been trading barbs all week over uncalled crackback blocks and holding penalties. It’s Lane Kiffinesque just yet, but it’s getting more heated…
