ACC LOOKS TO MAINSTREAM WRESTLING

In yet another attempt to mitigate the negative effects of the current recession, the ACC is attempting to turn traditional non-revenue sports into revenue producers the likes of men's basketball and football. Of course, all the while being mindful of the needs of the student athletes.

With a keen(?) eye on the growing popularity of MMA and UFC, the ACC brass has decided to throw thier notable marketing cache (and resources) into making wrestling a mainstream, popular, revenue producing sport.

Phase one of the ACC's new program is new uniforms designed to catch the eye of the ever popular 19-30-year-old male demographic.

Yesterday, at a poorly attended press conference, league officials revealed the new uniforms to be worn by Duke, Georgia Tech, Wake Forest and Maryland.

Officials call the new unis "cutting edge with a sharp eye toward pop culture sensibilities" that will "add excitement and color to the sport." Excitement as in "death" and color as in "blood."

A sample of ACC wrestling coaches and wrestlers generally called the proposed uniforms "f***ed up."
