While it pains those ACC aficionados who want the conference to become a football power conference, the simple fact remains that the ACC’s trump card remains men’s basketball.

Basketball practice officially begins this evening, meaning many schools across the country are holding their versions of Midnight Madness (albeit before midnight) events. At Duke, fans are Counting Down to the Craziness. At N.C. State, they will Rally in Red. And at North Carolina, it's time, once again, to spend Late Night with Roy Williams.

But the Triangle teams don’t have a monopoly on the madness.

Maryland will host Maryland Madness and Clemson has Rock The John. Georgia Tech holds an open scrimmage and Florida State has a gig they call Jam With Coach Ham.

Virginia is trying to keep the fact that they have a men’s hoops squad on the down low, so much so that they are playing two games in Mexico. Meanwhile, the Hokies will be holding an event called “We Love Coach Seth, But All We Really Care About Right Now Is Kicking The Wahoos' Ass In Football.”
