UNC DUO CAN’T WAIT TO HIT SOMEBODY SO THEY HIT EACH OTHER

Freshmen defensive end Donte Paige-Moss (#44) was looking to hit somebody. Turns out it was fellow freshman Hunter Furr.

Unfortunately, it was off the field, and Paige-Moss now faces an Aug. 20 appearance date in Orange County Court misdemeanor simple assault, according to a report from UNC's Department of Public Safety.

Furr was visiting a friend's room in UNC's Horton Hall on July 16 when the incident occurred, the report said. Paige-Moss, 18, is accused of punching Furr "at least twice" in the nose and pushing him to the floor, according to the report.

Furr was treated and released at UNC Hospitals, the report said.

Neither Paige-Moss nor Furr, a running back from Lewisville, was available for comment Tuesday. Team policy prevents freshmen from speaking to the media until they have participated in their first game.

Davis called the altercation a "very unfortunate situation" and said the two freshmen are "very, very good friends."

"We've talked about it to both of the players," Davis said. "We've already handled it internally."
