The Pittsburgh Penguins overcame a third-period deficit, survived Alex Ovechkin’s tying goal late in regulation, then won on Evgeni Malkin’s(notes) power-play tally 3:28 into overtime Saturday night for a 4-3 victory in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference semifinals.

Here, Sidney Crosby #87 of the Penguins attempts a wrap around shot on goal against Mike Green #52 and Simeon Varlamov #40 of the Caps during Game Five of the Eastern Conference Semifinal Round of the 2009 Stanley Cup Playoffs on May 9, 2009 at the Verizon Center in Washington, DC.

Meanwhile, down in the hockey hot bed known as Raleigh, NC, the Carolina Hurricanes are up 3-1 in their second-round series with the Bruins. Game 5 is tonight in Boston.
