FOOTBALL NEWS: HEADING HOME

Miami QB Robert Marve decided he’d transfer some time ago. Problem was, he didn’t seem to know where he was going and was having some trouble finding a new home (which might have been part of the problem at Miami?).

Now he has decided he'll transfer to Purdue instead of walking on at Tennessee. Purdue announced that Marve will be a Boilermaker in a news release Thursday, May 21, 2009. He will have two years of eligibility, starting with the 2010 season.

Florida State’s Florida State's Corey Surrency is going home literally.

The NCAA has denied Surrency's final appeal to play another year. The decision Tuesday, May 19, 2009, upheld an April ruling.

It means the senior, who played just one year at Florida State, has used up his eligibility.

In a related item, Coach Bobby Bowden said, "That #1 Kid, what's his dadbern name...Currency, or something like that...he was a doggone good kid, but he couldn't throw the ball very dadblasted accurately, so we cut him loose. Damn NCAA almsot made us keep him..."

Um, coach...he was a DB...
