A LITTLE FURTHER DOWN ON THE GROUP W BENCH

COLLEGE BASKETBALL INVITATIONAL – The CBI got underway lat year. Like the others, is a single-elimination tournament, up until the "Best of Three" Championship Series, with all games being played at campus sites.

Prior to the semifinals, the remaining teams will be re-seeded. The Championship Series is a "Best of Three" (home-away-home) in which the higher seeded team will host the first and last (if necessary) home games.

You can ignore this because no ACC teams are participating. But if you want to complain (say, you’re N.C. State for example), the field of 16 includes St. John’s (16-17), Richmond (18-15), Charleston (26-8), Troy (19-12), Vermont (23-8), Green Bay (22-10), Houston (21-11), Oregon State (13-17), Buffalo (21-11), Wichita State (16-16), Boise State (19-12), Stanford (18-13), Northeastern (18-12), Wyoming (19-13), UTEP (19-12) and Nevada (21-12).

The obvious question is how did Oregon State at 13-17 get in? Could it have something to do with the fact that the head coach is the President of the United States’ brother-in-law?

Naaaah...
