Last night No. 4 Pittsburgh got its first win over a No. 1 team when they knocked off UConn 76-68 on the Huskies’ home court.
UConn became the fifth top-ranked team to lose this season – unranked Boston College beat No. 1 North Carolina in Chapel Hill Jan. 4, No. 20 Louisville beat No. 1 Pitt on Jan. 17, Virginia Tech beat No. 1 Wake Forest Jan. 21, No. 4 Wake then beat No. 1 Duke on Jan. 28, and last night Pitt beat UConn.
Is there a pattern here? Do all of these games involve teams either in the ACC or the Big East?
(P.S. The two teams shot 37 free throws. Not a misprint – 37. The announcers commented that Big East officials are too quick to call fouls in the paint…What did Aristotle say, something about “moderation?”)
