…but the Seminoles are creeping up in the RPI – they are now ranked 20th and last night’s win over Miami could move them up another notch making a trip to the Big Dance all the more likely for Leonard Hamilton and his squad.

FLORIDA STATE 80, MIAMI 67 – Jack McClinton’s run of thirty point games ended, and without that offensive firepower the Canes simply can’t compete with higher echelon ACC teams. McClinton, who had scored 101 points in his last three games, was held to five in the first half and 13 for the game.

Toney Douglas scored 24 points and Uche Echefu added 18 points and 10 rebounds for the Seminoes (20-6, 7-4 ACC) who made 31 of 35 free throws.

James Dews led Miami (15-10, 4-8) with a season-high 19 points.
