Michigan (Wolverines, 41,042students, Ann Arbor, MI) 81, No. 4 DUKE 73 – Who thought playing Michigan twice in three weeks was a good idea? Evidently, the Wolverines learned something the last time around and maybe it was nothing more than hold your breath and hope the Blue Devils miss those jump shots so critical to their offense. They did and they did – Duke missed 24 of 27 three point attempts.

Michigan upset then No. 4 UCLA in a preseason tourney, only to lose the next round to the Devils. This time, at home, the Wolverines got the job done with help from DeShawn Simms career-high 28 points. Coach K’s boys had won 31 straight games against unranked nonconference opponents dating to a loss against Georgetown on Jan. 21, 2006.
