N.C. STATE HAS BAD TIMING

From doormat in September to one of the best teams (certainly the hottest) in the ACC with the best player, the Wolfpack has had a wild ride of a season. They simply couldn’t get out of their own way early on, but improved as the season went by.

Yesterday’s convincing bowl eligible win over the Hurricanes, put a big exclamation point on Tom O’Brien’s second season.

State’s freshman QB Russell Smith is playing better than anybody else in the league. All he did against the Canes’ defense (ranked 20th overall nationally) was throw for two touchdowns and run for another. Wilson threw for 220 yards and ran for 58 more for the Wolfpack (6-6).

Miami finishes up a slightly disappointing 7-5. Both are bowl bound.
