Scott Riddle passed for 241 yards and three touchdowns as Elon held off Stony Brook in a pouring rain for a 30-20 victory last Saturday.

Riddle threw a 4-yard touchdown pass to Bo Williamson and a 9-yarder to Tim Applegate to give the Phoenix (1-1) a 13-0 lead in the first quarter.

Lynell Suggs put the Seawolves (1-1) on the board on a 19-yard touchdown pass from Dayne Hoffman, cutting the deficit to 16-7 with 5:08 left before half.

Karlos Sullivan returned a punt 81 yards for a touchdown to add to the Phoenix lead at 23-7 with 1:33 remaining in the second quarter. Stony Brook drew to within 23-13 for halftime when Donald Lee scored a touchdown on 49-yard pass with 24 seconds to play before the break.

Terrell Hudgins’ 57-yard TD catch made it 30-13 for Elon.
