If the field at the University of Phoenix stadium during the Super Bowl looked like real grass, it’s because it is. The field lives outside and goes indoors via a retractable device before games.Four weeks ago, a team of 35 people replaced the field with 1.4 million pounds of new Alabama-grown sod. Then, the Tifway 419 hybrid Bermuda grass received round-the-clock care, including maximum sunlight and watering.
Before the big game, they flip a switch and the field rolls back into the stadium.
Now that’s cool.And that’s what you get for $455 million.
