PICTURE OF (A HORRIFIC) DAY

UNBELIEVABLY CRUEL…Today is National Signing Day for football recruits, and this story demonstrates a rather extreme example of the downside of how major colleges go about their biz in hot pursuit of America’s best young athletes, and the scholarship obsession that major college sports has created.

Accompanied by Coach Mark Hodges, Fernley High football player Kevin Hart reaches for a Cal ball cap, signifying his choice of colleges. Problem is the 6’ 5” 290 lbs Hart wasn’t recruited by either school. He wasn’t even in their recruiting data bases.

It what has to be one of the cruelest hoaxes of all time, some prankster went to elaborate ends to dupe the Nevada high school student. The story didn’t come out until local papers picked up the story, and Cal representatives were caught off guard when contacted.

Unbelievable.
