Lennox Rawlings of the Winston-Salem Journal had this to say recently about Tar Heel point guard Quentin Thomas:

...Thomas, the Tar Heels’ lonely point guard since Ty Lawson sprained an ankle three weeks ago, supplied considerable help for his friends. He ripped through the human mazes in transition and located teammates for seven assists.

His totals in the seven games minus Lawson: 46 assists, 23 turnovers, 56 points. That’s the best ACC assists-to-turnovers ratio over that span, which reflects the enhanced inner calm of a senior smoothing out a rather stormy career.

“There used to be a time I’d make a mistake and just get mad at myself,” Thomas said.
His anger has dissipated, and the home folks’ angst has receded.

Thomas has become a crowd favorite, his best moments greeted by elongated “Q” chants.
