Maryland's James Gist was named ACC Player of the Week and Wake Forest's James Johnson was selected as ACC Rookie of the Week.

Gist played a key role in Saturday's 82-80 win over then No. 1 North Carolina in Chapel Hill. The Silver Spring, Md., native turned in his fifth "double-double" of the season with a 22-point, 13-rebound, two-assist performance against the Tar Heels. Earlier in the week, the 6-9, 235-pound senior had 10 points, eight rebounds, four blocked shots and three assists in a 71-64 win over Wake Forest. On the week Gist averaged 16.0 points, 10.5 rebounds, 2.5 blocked shots and 2.5 assists per game. Not bad!

In earning the award for the first time this season, Johnson averaged 20.0 points, 9.0 rebounds and 2.5 blocked shots as the Demon Deacons split two games. In Tuesday's 71-64 loss at Maryland, Johnson had 14 points, nine rebounds and four blocked shots. In Sunday's 74-57 victory over Florida State, the Cheyenne, Wyo., freshman made 10-of-15 from the floor, including four-of-five from three-point range and finished with a career-high 26 points, nine rebounds and three steals.
