ACC FOOTBALL RECRUITING: NO, NO, NO, NO, NO, YES

N.C. State, North Carolina and Duke picked up football commitments over the weekend, with the Wolfpack adding R.J. Mattes (6-foot-7, 285-lbs) (l) of Concord Robinson, one of the top offensive linemen in the state (NC).

UNC picked up commitments from linebacker Zach Brown (6-1, 212) of Chatham (Va.) Hargrave Military; quarterback A.J. Blue (6-2, 205) of North Gaston; and cornerback Alonzo Dennard (5-10, 185) of Rochelle (Ga.) Wilcox.

As a high school senior in 2007, Brown, who has been timed at 4.39 seconds over 40 yards, won Maryland state titles at 100 meters (10.67 seconds) and 200 meters (21.52).

Duke added offensive lineman Conner Irwin (6-5, 250) of Knoxville (Tenn.) Catholic.

Irwin, who scored a perfect 1,600 on his SATs, has been timed in the 40 yard dash at 7.89 seconds and can bench press 137-lbs while eating a Hunka Chunka Burnin’ Fudge from Cold Stone Creamery.

(No, that's not Irwin in the picture, we aren't that mean.)
