DEACONS, HOKIES HEADED TO SOCCER’S COLLEGE CUP

If you make it to the Final Four in your sport aren’t you supposed to be headed somewhere like Miami or New Orleans?

Not so for Wake Forest and Virginia Tech soccer players who are headed to Cary, NC for the 2008 NCAA College Cup finals.

Cary is a suburb of Raleigh…

Nonetheless, both are in the Final Four – Wake for the second year in a row and the Hokies for the first time ever.

Austin da Luz's goal with 3:21 remaining in the first sudden victory overtime ended a scoreless tie between No. 2 seed Wake Forest and No. 10 seed Notre Dame, while a key defensive play by midfielder Charlie Campbell and Patrick Nyarko's 31st career goal helped the No. 11 seed Virginia Tech men's soccer team with a 1-0 win at No. 3 seed Connecticut last Saturday.

The other two teams in the Cup are Ohio State and Umass.
